I've decided I'm going to use my DA blog on a more regular basis. And I'm kicking it off with a minor rant:
I don't get why a lot of westerners can't pronounce the word 'sudoku' properly. I mean, most of the Japanese sounds are pronounced exactly as they would be in English. How hard can it be? Just sound the damn word out: soo-doh-kuu. People manage to pronounce those freaky Chinese and Vietnamese and Thai words with the seemingly random variations in tone, but not a simple word like sudoku, which is spelt phonetically. Maybe someone, somewhere along the line, got their o and u sounds mixed up and then it just stuck. I just don't get it.
